Our Impacts
20 December, 2022
Our amazing Santa couldn’t keep up with the lists from our kiddos today! The Autismobile had a steady flow of fans who were able to choose where in the Autismobile and how they wanted to meet Santa, having all the time they needed to warm up and for some, it was their first time meeting Santa. I had a vision of what I wanted our Sensory Sensitive Santa weekend on the Autismobile to look like but I never could have imagined what it would have felt like. Pure joy.
We probably had about 50 (parents, siblings, grandparents, caregivers) people come through this weekend, all with their own reasons as to why they chose to bring their child/young adult to see Santa in the Autismobile. All of them grateful for a relaxed Santa visit and play time, free from judgement, crowds and time constraints. Some with autism, others medically fragile, some with walkers and wheelchairs but all leaving with their own special Santa experiences. The icing on the cake is always visits from friends Kate McNally McTamney, Kate McFadden who have supported Autism Wings from the beginning. This was a free event but I felt like I hit the lottery today! A special thanks to Jamiel Owens, founder of Ausomeness Inc, for donating his time and for being the most amazing Santa we could have asked for and also to Whitemarsh Parks and Recreation for partnering with us.
And last but not least, my crew for giving up some of their weekends…again, to support their overly ambitious Mom! Enjoy some of our special moments.
